We are pleased to share our latest update on the case of Konstantinou v. Cyprus (Application No. 36862/23).

The decision is particularly significant as it constitutes the first judgment of the European Court of Human Rights against the Republic of Cyprus concerning matters related to the judiciary following the reforms of the judicial system and the re-establishment of the Supreme Constitutional Court.

Αντί να ενισχύεται η προστασία των δικαιούχων και η δίκαιη αμοιβή τους για τη χρήση των δικαιωμάτων τους, η Βουλή των Αντιπροσώπων με την χθεσινή της απόφαση να απορρίψει και πάλι τους Κανονισμούς για την συλλογική διαχείριση δικαιωμάτων πνευματικής ιδιοκτησίας, την εμποδίζει και συνεχίζει να συντηρεί το κενό εποπτείας, με κίνδυνο να θιγούν τα περιουσιακά δικαιώματα των δικαιούχων.

Please see below letter to the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU, urging it to place the non-implementation of ECtHR and CJEU judgments on the agenda of the General Affairs Council and the Justice and Home Affairs Council. The letter was signed, inter alia, by our office and the NGO Truth Now Cyprus.
