Our Law firm has successfully handled the applications of four (4) foreign individuals residing in Cyprus, for the cancellation of Red Notices issued against them by Interpol and the deletion of all their personal data kept by the Commission for the Control of Interpol’s Files.

A Red Notice is not an international warrant of arrest, but it can result in the arrest and detention of a person, against whom an international warrant of arrest has been issued, by a Member foreign state, for the purpose of his/her extradition to that foreign country.

By its decisions dated 5th of May 2026, the Commission for the Control of Interpol’s Files, decided to cancel the Red Notices and to delete the personal data concerning our clients from Interpol’s Files, accepting our clients submissions, and evidence presented by our law firm, that there were no elements of any criminal wrongdoings, in the cases initiated against them in the Member foreign country for “fraud committed in especially large scale, by a group of people by prior agreement”.

Red Notices are sophisticated law enforcement tools, which sometimes are abused and misused by autocratic and despotic regimes, especially in politically motivated cases.

Our Legal team has experience in inter alia handling extradition cases, as well as applications for cancellation of Interpol’s Red Notices.

During this year’s Cyprus Arbitration Day (CAD) 2026, our Partner, Kyriakos Pittas, participated as a speaker on the Conference’s First Panel, titled "Unsettled Legal Doctrines".

His presentation, "Binding Effect of Prior Court Judgments in International Arbitration", examined the doctrine of res judicata and explored the practical considerations and challenges arising in the context of international arbitration proceedings.

We are honoured to look back on a highly successful Cyprus Arbitration Day (CAD) 2026, organized by the Cyprus Arbitration Forum (CAF) at the Four Seasons Hotel in Limassol.

As a Gold Sponsor of Cyprus flagship arbitration event, our firm remains deeply committed to promoting Cyprus as an arbitration centre.

In addition to supporting the main conference, we were proud co-sponsors of the side event hosted by the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC). The session, titled "India-Related Disputes in Europe," brought together distinguished practitioners to discuss complex cross-border and investment dispute issues.

We extend a sincere thanks to the organizers, fellow speakers, and all participants who contributed to the insightful discussions throughout the event. We look forward to continuing to contribute to the development of international arbitration in Cyprus and beyond.

Our Team recently stepped onto the volleyball court, proving that what truly matters is the team spirit, dedication, and the strong bond we share as colleagues and friends, both in and out of the office.

👏 A massive thank you to our players for giving their all, and to everyone who came out to cheer for our PittasTeam. Events like this are a powerful reminder that collaboration, unity, and sportsmanship go far beyond the workplace. Together, we’re more than just a team; we’re a community.👏

🙌 A special shoutout to the organizers for putting this all together! Thank you for your hard work in making this event a reality in support of such a meaningful cause.

We are pleased to share, that our legal team successfully handled the enforcement at common law, of a BVI judgement of approximately USD 90.000.000, against a former sales manager, of a large Russian Group, representing sums which he had misappropriated, during his employment, through the use of a wide network of overseas companies, including Cypriot entities.

The court inter alia held, that in the context of such enforcement proceedings, the court doesn’t have power to review the merits or the correctness of the foreign judgement, given that the available defences are limited.

The above case was handled, on behalf of our law office by the Managing Partner Soteris Pittas and the Partner Mrs. Anna Lambrou.

In a recent Appellate Court judgement, it has been inter alia held that:

(a) The public policy defense should only be used, in exceptional cases.

(b) The public policy defense shall not be used to criticize the court decision to be recognized and enforced.

(c) It is the recognition of the judgement of the foreign court, rather than the judgment itself, which must be contrary to public policy.

(d) Recourse to public policy, can be envisaged only, where recognition or enforcement of the foreign judgement, would infringe the rule of the law, regarded as essential, in the legal order of the Republic of Cyprus, or would infringe a right recognized, as being fundamental, within the Cypriot legal system.
