The Center for Advanced Legal Studies is a non-governmental, non-profit, educational and research organization, an association of lawyers, sociologists, economists and historians, established on 3 July 1998 at the initiative of a group of professors of the Faculty of Law, Belgrade University. The center strives to: gather experts to work on scientific projects in the field of law and other related
fields, make proposal for the reform of the legal system, especially by drafting and publishing so-called model laws; to set up expert teams and direct their work toward seeking optimal solutions for specific problems; to organize educational programmes, courses, seminars, and other events which could contribute to the promotion of legal education. The Centre for Advanced Legal Studies has drafted over 20 model-acts (many of which have already been passed in the Parliament), mainly in the field of human rights and democracy, and it has organised more than fifty educational courses, seminars and roundtables.
