Famous for "the best climate in the world," this mountain town is a top pick for retirees seeking a slower pace without sacrificing modern comforts.

- The Vibe: One of the most established and welcoming expat communities in CR.
- Lifestyle: Incredible mountain views, local "ferias" (farmers markets), and a central location just 45 minutes from the airport and the beach.
- Cost of Living: More affordable than the high-end coast, but with high-quality real estate and private healthcare nearby.

Thinking about Atenas? We’ve helped many families secure their residency and homes in this mountain gem. Let’s talk about your options.

In Costa Rica, a real estate transaction involves more than just a buyer and a seller. To truly protect your capital, you need an independent legal partner who works exclusively for you.

Our approach goes beyond the closing table. We provide:
* Title Search and Due Diligence: Ensuring clear ownership.
* Escrow Coordination: Safe handling of your funds via SUGEF-regulated accounts.
* Utility Transfers: We don't just hand you the keys; we make sure the water and power are in your name.

Don’t navigate the local market alone.
Let’s ensure your investment is built on solid ground.

Owning a property through a Costa Rican Corporation (S.A. or SRL) is a smart move for liability and estate planning.

April 30th is the deadline for the mandatory Transparency and Beneficial Ownership Registry (RTBF). In 2026, regulations are stricter than ever, failing to file can lead to heavy fines and block your ability to sell or manage your assets.

We offer a free introductory call so you can cut through the noise before you even pack a bag. No generic advice; just a real conversation about:

* Residency types: Which one actually fits your income and goals?
* The Must-Haves: Which documents do you need to grab before leaving home?
* Local Tips: The stuff you won't find in the Facebook groups.

If you’re working remotely and find yourself wishing you didn't have to leave Costa Rica every 180 days, the Digital Nomad permit was built for you.

It’s one of the most flexible ways to stay here legally for a year (and potentially a second) while keeping your foreign income tax-free.
The basics:
* Income: Minimum $3,000 USD/month (or $4,000 for families).
* Tax Benefits: You aren't subject to local income tax on your remote salary.
* Speed: A much faster application process than traditional residency.

Why is April 11th such a big deal in Costa Rica?
It’s not just a day off, it’s a celebration of national sovereignty.

Today we honor Juan Santamaría, a humble drummer boy from Alajuela who became a national hero in 1856. He sacrificed his life to burn down "El Mesón," the stronghold of William Walker’s invading filibusters, helping ensure Costa Rica remained a free and independent nation.

For those of us who call this country home, today is a reminder of the fierce spirit of peace and independence that defines the Tico way of life.

Not a Costa Rica resident yet? We can open your bank account for you.

Sure, you could do it yourself. You’ve navigated bigger challenges than a bank appointment. But banking as a non-resident is notoriously inconsistent. We use our established network to skip the trial and error, making the process easier than ever.

Spend your morning at the beach, not at the bank. Send us a message to get started: [email protected]

If you want to feel like a local, stop buying your produce at the supermarket.
Head to your town’s Feria del Agricultor on Friday or Saturday instead. It’s where the community actually meets.
A few tips for your first trip:
* Cash is King: While some vendors take Sinpe Móvil, having small bills makes life easier for everyone.
* Bring your own bags: The sturdy, reusable ones are a must for heavy papayas and pineapples.
* Go early: The best selection is at 7:00 AM. By noon, the heat and the crowds pick up.
It’s the best way to practice your Spanish and support the local farmers directly. Plus, the "Mamon Chino" is back in season, don't leave without a bag!
