In 2019 our family began a new venture called Bee Joyful Enterprises, which manages short term stay properties.

The mission of BJE is to provide a joyful away from home experience in comfortable, affordable accommodations.

Let’s talk about MUD!

🧡 YES, my face is orange but NO, it is not a really bad spray tan! Or as my brother says, my best Trump impression.

🏞 Waterfalls in Costa Rica are full of many natural minerals that our bodies CRAVE.

🇨🇷The natives (Ticos) taught us this trick to get the full benefits of these minerals through your skin. At most waterfalls in Costa Rica, you can find these orange stones that are soft and turn to a mud when you rub it against a harder rock.

🐅 We then use the mud to put on a mud mask or cake it over our arms and legs. Or for fun paint tiger stripes on the kiddos!

👙Leave the mud on as long as you like, the longer the better! It will wash off easily in the water, and out of clothes too, so don’t worry about getting it on your swimsuits.

Local Rec in Oklahoma City: Harvey Bakery & Kitchen!

🌟The Harvey opened up before Christmas of 2021 and quickly became our new favorite stop! Their space is huge, but also beautiful and functional. Their food and pastries are top notch. Their coffee.....oh my! And the staff! They are kind, accommodating and quick!

🥐We highly recommend stopping at The Harvey during your stay in Oklahoma for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, and second breakfast. Oh, and you absolutely must try the almond chocolate croissant. Just trust me on this one.

First up for our local recs in Uvita: Chirincoco café!

🐦Chirincoco is a locally owned jungle restaurant just a short bike ride from the house. Everything you order is made right then with fresh ingredients.

☕️They are known for their amazing coffee, smoothies and you need to try the french toast sticks. Just trust me. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, really.

🛋 It is a small, cozy atmosphere, so we wouldn't recommend going with a large group, but take a couple of friends and go hang out for a while!

We are starting a new post series that I am beyond excited about!

✨Our desire for this page is more than just advertisement for great home away from home experiences, we want it to be a resource for all of our guests and friends.

🏆We want every part of your stay to be the best it can be: not just when you are in our home, but whenever you step outside.
