During a corridor interview after the closing meeting of the second session of the 14th National Peoples's Congress in Beijing on Monday, 2024-03-11, Shen Changyu who is head of CNIPA said that strengthening the protection of IP rights is important to creating a good innovation and business environment. A regular communication mechanism with foreign enterprises will be established to receive their opinions and suggestions. China will adhere to equal protection of IP rights for domestic and foreign enterprises.

A Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) agreement, which will come into force on June 1, 2023, was signed between the French and China on April 6, 2023. With this PPH agreement, Chinese or French applicants will be able to request the acceleration of the granting procedure of a second patent filing in the other country.

From May 5, 2022, applicants from the world could protect their design in China through the Hague Agreement.
The individual designation fee (CNY standard) is CNY 4100 for the first phase (1-5 years), CNY 7600 for the second phase (6-10 years), and CNY 15000 for the third phase (11-15 years).
Applicant should pay the individual designation fee determined by CNIPA and WIPO in Swiss francs.
