*** Subject: Chile ratifies the 2011 amendments to Annex VI to the 1997 Protocol which amended the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973, as amended by the 1978 Protocol. ***

In the Official Gazette N° 41,069, dated January 29, 2015, the 2011 amendments to Annex VI to the 1997 Protocol which amended the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973, modified by the 1978 Protocol have been published. These amendments correspond to Circular MEPC.203(62). Among the many changes included in the resolution, probably the most relevant ones are those relating to the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plans (SEEMPS), Rule 19, for all ships that are 400 gross tonnage and above, regardless of flag, effective as of the first renewal or intermediate survey on or after January 1, 2013.
