📊 Express Entry — Canadian Experience Class

Two draws in just two weeks — and the numbers are moving in an interesting direction.

▪️ August 18 — 1,000 invitations, CRS cut-off 523

▪️ September 1 — 2,000 invitations, CRS cut-off 521

The number of invitations doubled, while the CRS threshold dropped by 2 points.

But there is an important detail: the September 1 draw applied a tie-breaking rule of August 18, 2026, at 03:24:13 UTC.

In other words, candidates with exactly 521 CRS points received an invitation only if their profile had been created before that time. Candidates with the same score who entered the pool later did not receive an invitation.

We don't predict the next draw — because no one knows what it will be.

What you *can* influence is your own CRS score. Language results, education, eligible work experience and a provincial nomination can all affect your position in the pool.

Want to know where you can realistically increase your score? Book a free first meeting. We'll review your profile and explain which immigration programs may be available to you.

🍁 Don’t put all your eggs in one basket: Alternative paths to Permanent Residence in Canada

Adela Crossley explains that while waiting for your PRRA or refugee decision, you should actively explore alternative immigration pathways. Life happens while you wait — if you’re single and enter into a genuine, meaningful relationship with a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, marriage may open the door to inland spousal sponsorship.

Getting an IRCC refusal does not always mean your application is over. 🇨🇦

A refusal can feel completely final, but officers sometimes make unreasonable errors that contradict Federal Court jurisprudence. ⚠️

Through judicial review, working directly with the Department of Justice can lead to an early resolution and a second chance for reconsideration without a full court hearing.
Have you ever received an IRCC refusal that felt unfair? Tell us in the comments below. 👇

Since July 15, 2026, IRCC is no longer accepting new applications to sponsor parents and grandparents. No word on when that changes.

Leaving Canada for a quick vacation can invalidate your child's Visitor Record. ⚠️

A Visitor Record is a single-use document that only covers your current stay in Canada.

Once you re-enter, you must submit a new application to extend or change status, or risk losing legal status when the authorized period ends. 🇨🇦

The August 20 draw was the 20th selection round conducted by British Columbia in 2026. It set a record for the highest proportion of score-based invitations among Skills Immigration draws this year.

So far in 2026, BC has held 12 Skills Immigration selection rounds covering distinct priorities:
- 7 rounds based on wages and registration scores
- 4 occupation-specific draws
- 1 draw in July targeting cleaners and security staff through the Temporary Rural/Remote Health Support Initiative

As of August 20, BC has issued at least 4,926 invitations across skilled worker and entrepreneur streams. The provincial pool contained 8,306 active profiles as of August 4. Applicants who secure a nomination certificate can then apply to the federal government for permanent residence.
Stay informed on provincial nomination requirements with Crossley Law.

British Columbia has received 1,000 additional provincial nomination spaces for 2026, bringing the BCPNP total to 6,254 — higher than where 2025 finished. BC is the third jurisdiction to receive a top-up this year, after Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

The spots follow the province’s three current objectives.

Care covers 36 in-demand occupations in healthcare, education, childcare and veterinary care. A current full-time job or job offer in an eligible occupation is required, with extra conditions for care aides, early childhood educators and teachers. At least 946 candidates were invited under care in 2026.

Build covers nine construction trades, including electricians, plumbers, welders, carpenters and heavy-duty equipment mechanics. Candidates need at least two years of full-time equivalent experience plus a job or job offer. 572 invitations in 2026.

Innovate covers skilled workers and entrepreneurs from all sectors, selected on wage plus a TEER 0–3 job offer or on registration score. The July 16 round required $58 an hour, roughly $115,000 a year, or a score of 132. 2,658 invitations in 2026.

Two things the headline number leaves out: at least 35% of nominations are expected to go to candidates working outside Metro Vancouver, and the province publishes invitation counts but not the number of nominations issued.

Not sure whether your occupation fits any of these? Book a free first meeting and we will look at your situation together. Link in bio.
