Calling all my fellow Durham Region business owners!

I’m hosting my first Locally Durham meetup, and I’d love to see some familiar faces and meet a few new ones!

We’re getting together at Tilted Glass Brewing Co. in Bowmanville for a casual afternoon of conversation and connecting with other local business owners.

No presentations, no sales pitches, no formal networking. Just an opportunity to get out from behind our businesses and meet the people running others in our community.

Thursday, October 22 | 12–2 PM
Tilted Glass Brewing Co. | Bowmanville

It’s completely FREE, but registration is required so we know who’s coming.

If you own a business, work for yourself or know someone who might enjoy this, I’d love for you to join us!

Sign up here: https://form.jotform.com/262635118715054

Hope to see you there!

I feel honoured to have witnessed such an incredible and monumental thing! And to be able to call this my home! On the shores of Lake Ontario, Birder She Wrote created the first and most incredible Turkey Vulture Festival - of which I am already excited for the next one. She brought hundreds, if not thousands of people from all over to our town. We thrived today! And I witnessed the outstanding collaboration of the Blue Rodeo song, performed by Greg Keelor Matt Mays Jimmy Bowskill and many more singers.

Have you seen the posts about a 30-kilometre park coming to Durham Region from Pickering to Oshawa?

I did too, so naturally I wanted to know what was actually happening.

The good news — it’s real. It’s called the Durham Meadoway, and the long-term vision is pretty incredible.

But some of the posts circulating make it sound like construction is about to start on one massive 30 km park, and we’re not quite there yet.

I went through what’s actually planned, where the project stands right now and what those beautiful concept images really represent.

If you’ve been wondering about it too, I broke it all down here:

There’s been a lot of talk online about a new 30-kilometre park coming to Durham Region, stretching all the way from Pickering to Oshawa. ...

Buying a home doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.

From getting pre-approved to finally getting the keys, having the right plan — and the right people in your corner — can make the entire process a whole lot easier.

Thinking about buying in Durham Region or Northumberland? I’m always happy to answer questions, even if you’re just starting to think about it.

If you've driven through Port Hope lately, you've probably noticed construction crews working in several neighbourhoods.

I've had a number of people ask me what's going on, so I decided to dig into it.

Did you know much of the work is connected to the Port Hope Area Initiative? If you've ever bought or sold a home in Port Hope, you've likely signed documents about it—but many people aren't sure what they actually mean.

I wrote a blog that explains:
• Why you're seeing so much construction
• What the Port Hope Area Initiative is
• Why buyers and sellers receive those documents
• What homeowners should know

If you've ever wondered what all the construction is about, I hope this helps.

Have you noticed construction on your street or in your neighbourhood? Let me know in the comments.

🏡 **Thinking about buying an older cottage and building your dream getaway?**

It sounds simple...

Buy the property. Tear down the old cottage. Build a brand-new one.

But when it comes to waterfront properties, it's often not that straightforward.

Things like shoreline setbacks, environmental protection areas, septic requirements, and whether the existing cottage is considered *legally non-conforming* can all affect what you're allowed to build.

Before you make an offer on a waterfront property with redevelopment plans, there are a few important questions you'll want answered.

I break it all down in my latest blog:

📖 **Can You Tear Down an Older Cottage and Build New? It's Not Always That Simple**

I need your opinion! 👇

Over the last little while, you’ve probably noticed my content has been changing. It’s become about so much more than just real estate—it’s about the communities we live in, hidden gems, local businesses, events, and the places that make Durham, Northumberland and Kawartha feel like home.

As my brand evolves, I’m wondering if my Instagram username should evolve too.

Which feels more like me?

🅱️

Or should I leave it exactly as it is?

I’d love to hear why you chose your answer. Your feedback genuinely means a lot as I continue building this next chapter.
