⚠️ Common Immigration Mistake: Leaving Canada while your visitor record extension is still being processed.

Many people assume that if IRCC later approves their visitor record extension, that approval automatically determines how long they can stay in Canada.

In many cases, that's not how it works.

If you leave Canada while your visitor record extension application is still being processed, the period of stay you were trying to extend ends when you leave Canada.

When you return to Canada, your authorized stay is generally determined by the conditions of your new entry.

If the border officer does not impose a different period of stay, you are typically authorized to remain in Canada for up to 6 months from your date of entry.

📌 Key takeaway:

Leaving Canada while a visitor record extension is in process can significantly affect your status. After re-entry, your stay is generally governed by your new admission to Canada, not by a visitor record approved later.

Daily Immigration Tip 🇨🇦
When your work permit is close to expiring, the biggest risk is not having a low CRS score.
It's realizing you started planning too late.
Many people think:
❌ A low CRS score is the problem.

But in reality:
⚠️ The real problem is waiting too long to build an immigration strategy.

When your work permit only has a few months left:
• There may not be enough time to improve your French.
• A provincial nomination may not arrive before your permit expires.
• Employer-supported options often take time to arrange.
• Alternative work permit pathways become more limited.

Immigration is rarely something you should leave until the last minute.
The earlier you plan, the more options you have. The longer you wait, the fewer choices remain.

If your work permit has less than 18 months remaining, now is the time to review your immigration strategy.

Daily Immigration Tip 🇨🇦

Your work permit expiry date may be one of the biggest factors affecting your immigration options.
Work permit remaining:

✅ 18+ months → You still have time to build a plan
✅ Around 12 months → It's time to start taking action
✅ Less than 6 months → Immediate planning is recommended

Many people wait until their work permit is close to expiring before looking into immigration options. However, many pathways require time to prepare, whether it's improving language scores, gaining qualifying work experience, exploring provincial nomination programs, or making employer-related arrangements.

In Canadian immigration planning, time is an asset—and it's one you can't get back.

If you're unsure what your remaining work permit time means for your PR plans, or what steps you should be taking now, watch our free webinar replay:

The earlier you start planning, the more options you usually have. 🇨🇦

Most people only start stressing about immigration

when their work permit is already running out.

But by then, some important options may already be limited.

In Canadian immigration, timing matters more than most people realize.
A few months can change:
• your PR strategy
• your eligibility
• your work permit options
• even which pathways are still realistic

We often see people wait because:
“My permit still has time.”or“I’ll figure it out later.”

Then suddenly:
• CRS scores increase
• policies change
• employer support becomes harder
• deadlines get closer

The people who usually have more options are often the ones who started planning earlier —not necessarily the ones with the strongest profile. If your work permit expires within:
• 6 months
• 12 months
• or even 2 years

this is usually the best time to understand your next steps.Immigration planning is much easier before it becomes urgent. 🇨🇦

Three draws. Three days. Big shift.

Most people think Express Entry moves slow.

This week proved the opposite.

In 3 days, IRCC held 3 separate draws:

📅 May 26 — PNP draw (CRS 805)
📅 May 27 — CEC draw (CRS 518)
📅 May 28 — French language draw (CRS 409)

Look at that last number again.

409.

That score sits far below PNP and CEC draws.

French draws are no longer rare.

They now follow a clear pattern.

And they are one of the fastest paths to PR right now.

What this means for you:

If you have intermediate French
Even moderate scores are receiving invitations.
Your PR timeline could shrink by months or years.

🎯 If your CRS feels stuck
French points change your rank.
Lower cut-offs give you a second lane.

📉 If you do not speak French
You need a backup plan now.
CEC alone is not predictable.

Too many applicants wait.

They assume the system will shift in their favor.

It rewards those who adapt.

Do you know your CRS score today?

It takes less than 5 minutes to check.

Your strategy should match the draws.

Not last year’s advice.

Daily Immigration Tip 🇨🇦

Express Entry is reshaping the definition of “eligibility.”

In the past, many people believed:
if your CRS score was high enough, PR was only a matter of time.

But the direction is changing.

Canada is increasingly selecting applicants who are:

✔ In occupations facing real labour shortages
✔ Aligned with long-term workforce needs
✔ More likely to integrate quickly into the Canadian job market

This is why we are seeing:
• category-based draws
• occupation-focused invitations
• growing importance of French ability
• stronger emphasis on work experience and occupation type

So immigration planning today
is no longer just about asking:

“What is my CRS score?”

It is also about:

👉 Whether your occupation has long-term demand
👉 Whether your profile aligns with future policy trends
👉 Whether you still have options if immigration policies change again

For many people,
the real issue is not that their score is too low.

It is that they only have one pathway left.

Daily Immigration Tip 🇨🇦

Start planning your immigration in your final year,
and you’re likely already behind.

Many students believe they can wait until graduation
to think seriously about PR pathways.
But in Canada, timing matters more than most people realize.

By your final year, some important decisions may already be harder to change:

• your program choice
• work experience strategy
• province selection
• language test timing
• networking and job opportunities

A strong immigration strategy often starts much earlier — sometimes from the first semester.

The people who usually have more options later
are often the ones who planned earlier.

If your goal is permanent residency,
don’t just focus on graduating.

Focus on positioning yourself early.
