Yesterday, eight members from Alexander Holburn had the privilege of volunteering with PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs, a non-profit organization that empowers children in grades 4-8 to explore financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and real-world business skills. They spent the day supporting these extraordinary kids as they brainstormed creative ideas for school improvement, which culminated in a presentation before a group of youth judges. The enthusiasm and pride the children brought to their ideas left a lasting impression on us, and we all walked away feeling grateful for the opportunity to participate.

We are a proud partner of PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs and encourage other organizations to consider contributing to this initiative, which is truly making a meaningful impact on future generations.

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing impacts of colonization and the importance of advancing meaningful reconciliation.

We encourage everyone to deepen their understanding by exploring Indigenous voices, stories, and perspectives, and to learn more about the histories that continue to shape our communities today. Through learning, reflection, and action, we can all contribute to fostering respect, understanding, and stronger relationships.
