Thinking about visiting the U.S. for business or tourism?

The B1/B2 Visitor Visa allows individuals to travel to the U.S. for business, tourism, family visits, conferences, or medical treatment. B1/B2 covers all of these, but approval depends on one key factor:
-Demonstrating strong ties to Canada and a clear purpose for your trip.

A U.S. immigration lawyer can help you with:
- Preparing a persuasive application package
- Identifying the correct category (B1 vs. B2 or both)
- Organizing supporting documents
- Preparing for the consular interview
- Addressing past refusals or complicated history

A well-prepared application reduces risk and increases your chance of approval—especially if you’ve had previous refusals.

If you’re in Vancouver and are planning to visit the U.S., professional guidance can save you time and stress.

What happens after I sent my I-130 petition to USCIS?

Once your I-130 petition is approved by USCIS, the next phase for spouses of U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents living in Canada is consular processing at the U.S. Consulate in Montreal if you have submitted your petition in Canada. This process is managed by the National Visa Center (NVC) and ends with the immigrant visa interview in Montreal.
You need to pay filling fees and complete two forms. One is affidavit of support I-864 and the other fee is filing fee for USA visa.

Border Search of Electronic Devices at Ports of Entry: CBP has the full authority to search your cell phone, laptop, and other electronic devices upon entry into the United States. Refusing to provide access may lead to delays, further inspection, or even denial of entry.
CBP conducts inspections of electronic devices at ports of entry to safeguard national security, combat criminal activity, and assess the admissibility of travelers. While infrequent, these searches are governed by strict protocols to ensure lawful and responsible enforcement.

new registration requirement for certain Canadian visitors. This policy mandates that Canadian citizens aged 14 and older, who were not issued an electronic Form I-94 upon entry and plan to stay in the U.S. for 30 days or more, must register with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Understanding Form I-94:

The Form I-94, officially known as the Arrival/Departure Record, is a document issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to track the arrival and departure dates of non-U.S. citizens. It serves as proof of legal visitor status and specifies the duration of an individual’s authorized stay.

Application to Canadian Citizens:

Air Travel: Canadian citizens entering the U.S. by air typically receive an electronic Form I-94 automatically upon arrival. This issuance satisfies the registration requirement, and no further action is needed.
Land or Ferry Travel: Those entering via land border crossings or by ferry may not automatically receive an electronic Form I-94. If planning to stay in the U.S. for 30 days or more, these individuals should ensure they obtain an I-94 to avoid the separate registration requirement
Request Upon Entry: At the port of entry, ask the CBP officer to issue an electronic Form I-94.
Apply Online: Alternatively, travelers can apply for a provisional I-94 online up to seven days prior to their arrival through the CBP I-94 website or the CBP One™ mobile app.
