⚠️🚨 Common-Law Couples ⚠️🚨

If you live with your partner, but aren't married, it's VERY important to have a will.

In Ontario, if you die without a Will:

• Your long-term partner could receive nothing, even if you've lived together for decades

• Your money may go to your parents, siblings, or even distant relatives instead

• If your partner relied on you financially, they'll need to apply to court for support

💕 Live with your partner but aren't married? Contact me today to protect each other.

In Ontario, if you pass away without a will you are considered to have died "intestate".

This means your wishes about:

🚫 Who receives your money and property
🚫 Who becomes the guardian of your children
🚫 Who you trust to handle your estate

won’t be considered.

What happens instead is:

💲 A standard legal formula is used to divide your estate
❤️‍🩹 If you have a common-law spouse, they may not receive anything
⚖️ A family member will need to apply to court to manage your estate
👶 Inheritance received by children will be released to them in full as soon as they turn 18

📧 If you want make sure your wishes are carried out, send me a DM!
