It was great to be interviewed yesterday by the Law Times, alongside my co-counsel Gavriel Swayze, on our recent win at the Ontario Court of Appeal overturning a wrongful conviction that put an innocent man in jail for nearly two years.

Many hundreds of pro bono hours later, we finally did it.

Congratulations to Rocco Scocco and Scocco Law for making this bust a reality!

These scammers have done a lot of damage to a lot of vulnerable people - literally extorting people with their own stuff! So many horror stories. I know this sting operation was a long time in the making, and it wouldn't have happened without you Rocco! Great work!

Warning to the public regarding Arsene Onca's international Ponzi scheme, including victim impact statements.

Arsene Onca - the monster behind a Toronto-based multi-million dollar investment fraud - is currently 'at large' with multiple warrants out for his arrest. He appears to have fled the country, leaving his many victims without redress. Police and the Ontario Securities Commission must pursue extradition.

I am proud to announce that I will be speaking as a panelist at the upcoming LexisNexis Webinar on Urgent Motions during COVID-19!

The webinar will take place on April 3rd (2pm-3:30pm), and will be moderated by none other than the lawboss himself, Timon Sisic!

I will be presenting on my recent experience applying for and litigating an urgent motion during the general court closures due to COVID-19.

The urgent motion I will be speaking about is an enforcement motion to recover funds for a fraud victim and to hold the debtors in contempt.

Key learning takeaways will be: (1.) How to apply for an urgent motion; (2.) What types of matters will be deemed "urgent"; (3.) The logistics for how to approach and complete an urgent motion once approved; and (4.) Tactical guidance on how to make the most of an urgent motion.

Today, I won a significant victory in a fraud case I've been fighting for the last several months.

Since about October of last year, I've been helping a woman who was defrauded out of her life savings by an investment scammer. We got judgment in November, and have been fighting to enforce that judgement ever since.

Today, we won a significant motion related to enforcement of the judgment.

Fraud cases are heartbreaking. I have been working tirelessly for months, without collecting any fees at all (yet) (because the client has no money to spare due to the fraud). I am effectively fighting this case on principle at this point - at least until the client gets her money back.

I have no idea when I'll be able to pay off my student loans, or even whether I'll be in the black next month. But I know I'm not gonna go to the goddamn grave regretting that I let this poor girl down and that this mo********er got away with it.

Two of my clients - Jean and Peter Thomas - have been fighting the Halton Region Conservation Authority for many years. Their case raises numerous issues of public importance, including the method by which Conservation Act violations may be proved in Court.

Yesterday, we filed a historic constitutional challenge to Canada's outdated, arbitrary, and unfair First-Past-The-Post electoral system; on the basis that it violates sections 3 and 15 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
