Mitchel Fleming recently joined Hall Webber after having completed his articles with one of Canada’s most highly rated intellectual property firms. He brings to the job a wealth of experience working in the entertainment industry, having spent years recording and performing as a professional musician himself, as well as building a strong track record working with other industry professionals, including musicians, visual artists, and filmmakers.

In addition to growing his legal practice, Fleming also acts as the editor of an online satirical news publication and prioritizes teaching and publishing in the areas of law, technology, and the arts (see website bio for details). Fleming has also gained valuable experience as the co-founder of a start-up in the nascent psychedelics industry where he worked to pioneer novel therapies utilizing psychedelics-assisted psychotherapy, while also working with a number of community groups, industry players and policymakers to advocate for greater access to psychedelic medicines. Fleming has also participated in research initiatives in the cutting-edge areas of artificial intelligence ethics and the ever-evolving cryptocurrency and NFT space.

Having completed his law degree at McGill University in Montreal, Fleming is capable of supporting his clientele in both English and French. Further, as an Indigenous person, Fleming makes it a priority to support those within Canada's Indigenous communities, whether that be through his legal service offerings or through volunteering. Towards this goal, Fleming has contributed his research efforts to a collaborative initiative between the Center for Intellectual Property Policy, the Government of Canada and Indigenous representatives seeking to better protect and foster Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expression.
