Why? Because renting for the rest of your life is NOT a better option. Rates worsened to high 5%s and low 6% yesterday [APR perhaps 0.5% higher]. WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY FOR HOMEBUYERS! wait what? Charles are you crazy? No I am not. I'll tell you who's crazy . . those families who according to SWNS digital report spend on average $1497/mo on UNNECESSARY expenditures. Like dining in restaurants/eating out, Impulse buying [Yeah Amazon!], poorly planned car trips that rack up gas bills, and buying name-brand items when generic ones will do . . How about you cut down on all those streaming devices? Pre-Approved Buyers. How is this an opportunity? You've sat there while pre-approved, ousted by over-bidding & cash rich competing buyers . . . .and now MANY of them will step aside. You on the other hand, because you've looked back and tracked Housing prices through the last 11 recessions, you know the LONG GAME. You have friends who bought a home in 2008 at 6.75% 30yr fixed and they're sitting on $500k equity. So you can now get your offer accepted..... yes take on a higher mortgage payment than what your Loan Officer quoted you even a month ago . . . then if you truly cherish homeownership, if you truly believe in the American Dream, if you truly want a place of your own to reflect your lifestyle and long term plans, then sit down and list all the things you can CUT OUT . . . including unnecessary subscriptions . . . to make the numbers work for you. Until you can refinance. The Feds meet tomorrow. Things may get worse before they get better. But when trouble hits, there's always opportunity. Many of you will need to go back to your Loan Officer and revise your Pre-Approval. It may mean taking on a higher payment or perhaps losing some Buying power. Whatever it means, don't act from a position of Fear. Why? Because renting for the rest of your life is NOT a better option.

Nearly 30 townhouse buyers in two Ideal Developments projects in Richmond Hill, Ont., are likely to lose a total of $2.8 million in unprotected deposit funds after the builder was refused licences by an Ontario oversight body and the projects were cancelled.
