Grateful to have spent both days this weekend judging the 2026 Paralegal Cup Moot Competition 🏆
This year’s moot focused on Quebec (Attorney General) v. Kanyinda, a Charter equality case involving a refugee claimant mother denied access to subsidized childcare and the disproportionate impact that exclusion can have on women navigating caregiving responsibilities, financial insecurity, and immigration barriers.
Being Mother’s Day weekend, the case felt especially meaningful. It highlighted the reality that mothers so often carry the greater burden of childcare while also trying to work, study, build stability, and support their families. A reminder of how important accessible supports and equal opportunities truly are.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and strong women balancing so much every single day. 💐
Huge congratulations to all of the competitors for the professionalism, preparation, and advocacy skills shown throughout the weekend. 👏
