You applied for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).

PGWP refusals are increasing because:

🍁Canada’s Immigration Rules Are Changing Again: What You Need to Know🍁

On January 21, 2025, new restrictions on family Open Work Permits (OWPs) take effect in Canada, impacting employers, foreign students, and foreign workers.

🎓 For Foreign Students: Only spouses of those in Doctoral, 16+ month Master’s, or select professional education programs qualify.
🛠️ For Foreign Workers: Spouses qualify only if the worker is in TEER 0/1 or certain TEER 2/3 jobs like nursing, construction, or engineering.
🚫 For Children: Dependent children will no longer qualify for OWPs.

💡Key Details:
• IRCC will release a complete list of eligible TEER 2/3 jobs on January 21.
• Existing OWPs remain valid and renewable if certain conditions are met.
• Spouses covered by Foreign Trade Agreements (FTAs) and those transitioning to Permanent Residence (PR) are unaffected.
