Hey everyone, huge changes in the Highway Traffic Act that you should know about!

As of July 1st, anyone caught driving 40km/h or more above the speed limit where the speed limit is set at less than 80km/h will face STUNT DRIVING charges. The rules for roads or highways where the speed limit is 80km/h or higher remains the same.

Drivers caught stunt driving will now also face tougher penalties.
Motorists will face a 30-day roadside driver’s licence suspension as well as a 14-day vehicle impoundment. The previous penalty was one week. The Ontario government is also introducing an escalating post-conviction driver's licence suspensions for drivers convicted of stunt driving.

For a first offence, a minimum of one to three years
For a second offence, a minimum of three to 10 years
For a third offence, a lifetime suspension that may be reduced at a later date to be established by regulation, and
For fourth and subsequent offences, a lifetime driver’s licence suspension.
This goes without saying, please drive safely, and please don’t pay that traffic ticket!

Ontario has made changes to how fast a driver can go over the speed limit on some roads before it will be considered stunt driving.

Update on Canadian Immigration:

1. Our government is looking to implement a post-pandemic economic immigration plan which would provide an increase in Canadian admission to immigrants in the next 3 years:
- Year 2021: 400k new Permanent Residents
- Year 2022: 411k new Permanent Residents
- Year 2023: 421k new Permanent Residents

2. For any graduating student in Ontario here on a student visa, the government is accelerating the integration process should he/she wish to stay and contribute to our economy. This is being done by leveraging technology; What once was a lengthy process has now been sped up virtually.

3. All Canadians in China are now welcome to come back, and they can bring their new families or business partners with them as well.

Many U.S. refugee claimants may soon have a chance to make their claims in Canada if the Safe Third Country Agreement is struck down by the courts. Both current illegal immigrants in the U.S. and new arrivals post Covid-19 may start coming to Canada in search of more fair treatment for their cases.
