Your course may qualify you for a 3-year PGWP — but your passport could quietly shorten it. Canada cannot issue your PGWP beyond your passport's expiry date, so if your passport expires earlier, your work permit ends earlier too. The good news: if that's why your PGWP was shortened, you can renew your passport and apply for the remaining time you were originally eligible for. Don't find this out after approval — check your passport before you submit your PGWP application. Send this to an international student graduating soon.

Do you really have to pretend you don't want Canadian PR just to get a study permit? A lot of students are told: never mention your future PR plans, the officer will reject you. But Canadian immigration law actually recognizes something called dual intent — you can genuinely enter Canada as a temporary student while also hoping to qualify for PR later. The catch: you still need to show that if PR doesn't happen, you'll respect your temporary status and leave when required. Wanting PR isn't the red flag. Acting like Canada owes it to you is. Would you mention your PR plans in a study permit application? Comment YES or NO.

Our client's spouse had received a PGWP rejection — and she didn't know where to go from there. We reviewed her case, identified exactly where the application fell short, and helped her put together a stronger, properly documented resubmission. This time, it was approved. Every rejection has a reason behind it, and most of the time, it's fixable with the right guidance. If you've had a PGWP refusal or you're not sure your application is strong enough, comment "PGWP" and let's look at your case.

We saw this photo and it was so true. Wanting to study abroad = saving posts, watching reels, "I'll start tomorrow." Taking action = building a shortlist, prepping documents, applying before the deadline. You don't always lose out because you weren't good enough — sometimes it's just because you were late. Don't be another student who's interested in studying abroad. Be one of the few who takes action.

New as of Sept 4, 2026: work permit holders can study up to 6 months in Canada without a separate study permit — no application, no fee. Cap is strict (6 months, no exceptions) and it ends when your permit or the policy (Dec 31, 2027) expires. Note: doesn't count toward CEC/CRS points.
