πŸ“Œ EXPRESS ENTRY REFORM β€” WHATS ACTUALLY OFFICIAL (AND WHAT ISNT)

Theres a lot of noise online about Canada "overhauling" Express Entry. Heres what the government has actually said, based only on official IRCC and Canada Gazette sources.

βœ… WHAT IRCC HAS CONFIRMED (PROPOSAL STAGE):
IRCCs Forward Regulatory Plan proposes to create a new federal high skilled immigration class that would replace three current programs:
β€’ Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
β€’ Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
β€’ Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

Public consultations are planned for Spring 2026.

⚠️ WHAT HAS NOT BEEN PUBLISHED:
β€’ The detailed replacement rules
β€’ Transition rules for people already in the pool
β€’ Whether current profiles will be grandfathered or converted
β€’ A fixed implementation date

The current Express Entry system still applies today.

WHAT THIS MEANS IF YOURE…

β†’ Already in the pool: The current system still governs your profile. 12-month validity and current invitation rounds continue.

β†’ Working in Canada: Canadian work experience still matters under the current rules.

β†’ Studying in Canada: Canadian education can still help your CRS score under current rules.

⏱️ TIMELINE REALITY CHECK
IRCCs Forward Regulatory Plan covers a 2-year horizon. For context, a comparable IRCC Express Entry consultation in 2022–2023 ran 48 days, and implementation took additional months after that. Months, not weeks.

The change is being discussed β€” not applied.

Dont make decisions based on headlines. Watch for the Spring 2026 consultation details.

πŸ†˜ IF A NATURAL DISASTER AFFECTED YOUR IMMIGRATION STATUS IN CANADA β€” PLEASE READ

IRCC has just launched new support measures (April 2026) for temporary residents whose status was impacted by domestic natural disasters.

We know this has been a difficult situation for many families β€” and we want you to know you have options.

βœ… WHAT THE NEW MEASURES INCLUDE:
β†’ Options for status restoration if your permit expired during a disaster
β†’ Possible extensions if your original immigration plans were disrupted
β†’ Recognition that natural disasters are circumstances outside your control

βœ… WHO THIS IS FOR:
β€’ International students whose studies were interrupted
β€’ Work permit holders whose jobs were affected
β€’ Visitors whose plans changed
β€’ Anyone with temporary status impacted by domestic events

βœ… WHAT TO DO NEXT:
1️⃣ Don't wait until your permit expires
2️⃣ Document how the disaster impacted your situation
3️⃣ Check canada.ca for current eligibility details
4️⃣ Speak with an immigration lawyer about your specific options

You're not navigating this alone β€” and there are real options to explore.

Canada refused your visa and gave you a one-line explanation? That is not good enough. Your ODN (Officer Decision Notes) should tell you exactly what the officer found weak - use it before you do anything else. Drop your questions below πŸ‘‡

πŸ“‰ GOOD NEWS for Express Entry candidates!

CRS cutoff scores have dropped to their lowest point in 18 months.

Here is what you need to know:

βœ… CEC (Canadian Experience Class) cutoffs are down significantly
βœ… Some category draws have seen scores below 400
βœ… Competition in the Express Entry pool is reduced

🎯 If your CRS score is 450 or higher, this is one of the best windows.

Windows like this do not last forever. If you have been waiting to apply, NOW is the time.

πŸ“œ BREAKING: Bill C-12 Has Passed

Canada just changed its immigration law in a major way.

Bill C-12 gives IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) new powers to handle groups of immigration applications differently.

**What does this mean?**

β†’ IRCC can now prioritize certain types of applications
β†’ Some categories may be processed faster
β†’ Others could take longer

**Why should you care?**

If you have a pending application - or you are planning to apply - this affects you.

The actual immigration rules have not changed. But HOW those rules are applied could change based on IRCC priorities.

**What to do:**

βœ“ Stay informed about IRCC announcements
βœ“ If you have a pending application, document your timeline
βœ“ Watch for policy changes in your category

πŸ’° GOOD NEWS for families wanting to bring parents to Canada!

Canada has relaxed the income requirements for Super Visa applications.

Here is what you need to know:

βœ… NEW: You can now choose income from either of TWO tax years to meet the threshold
βœ… NEW: In some cases, your parents or grandparents income can count too
βœ… This effectively lowers the barrier for many sponsors

🎯 Super Visa allows parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a time. If you cannot wait for the PGP program, this is often the best option.

If you have been wanting to bring your parents or grandparents to Canada, now is a great time to apply.
