On October 15, 2026, a coalition of four citizen organizations – Ontario Place for All (OP4All), Toronto Field Naturalists, Democracy Watch, and the National Trust for Canada – will be intervening in the appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) by Ontario Place Protectors (OPP) challenging the decision by the Ontario provincial government to destroy Ontario Place and replace it with a spa. The coalition is represented by Cavalluzzo lawyers Jackie Esmonde, Sydney Lang and Clément Thabet.

Today, October 4th, marks Sisters in Spirit, a national day to honour and remember missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit and gender-diverse people (MMIWG2S+), and advocate for meaningful action to end this crisis.

Despite years of calls for action from all levels of government, Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit and gender diverse folks continue to endure violence at extremely disproportionate rates.

Sisters in Spirit vigils held across the country are an opportunity to gather and hold space for the families, friends, and communities whose lives have been forever impacted, and push back against the systemic inequity that allows for this violence to continue at such disproportionate rates. Each vigil is an act of remembrance and a demand for justice.

This one-day conference brings together leading practitioners to examine the legal framework, emerging case law and practical workplace challenges involved in meeting accommodation obligations.

Patricia, along with David Patacairk, Senior Legal Counsel at the City of Ottawa, will facilitate a session on navigating disability accommodation requests, exploring the legal foundations of the duty to accommodate, the employer’s duty to inquire, and trauma-informed approaches to disability accommodation.

On Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026, community members and leaders will travel 1,700km from Grassy Narrows to Toronto to demand that the governments of Ontario and Canada:

1. Compensate everyone in Grassy Narrows fairly for the mercury crisis.
2. End the pollution by stopping the Dryden mill and ending mining and nuclear waste plans that threaten Grassy Narrows.
3. Support Grassy Narrows in restoring their community and way of life from the damage that mercury has done.

Please join us in solidarity with Grassy Narrows and Indigenous resistance by:

1. Showing up to River Run 2026 and letting Grassy Narrows know you stand with them in their fight for justice!
