I've long held the view that some of the CAS standards are classist and reflective of the middle class values unconsciously held by the Society workers. This video provides interesting historical perspective on the expectation that children sleep separately from their parents, and have their own rooms.

"The idea that children should sleep separately from parents at all was a concerted effort of colonial governments and early public health advocates to discourage communal sleep. There was nothing 'natural' or 'inherent' about it."
