Big update for international students in Canada!

Starting January 1, 2024, Canada is raising the financial requirements for study permits to ensure students are well-prepared for the cost of living.

For 2024 the new requirement will be $20,635, representing 75% of LICO, plus tuition and travel costs and will be adjusted each year. This move aims to protect students from financial challenges and improve their overall experience in Canada.

Additionally, the 20-hour work limit for international students already in Canada, as well as applicants who have already submitted an application for a study permit as of December 7, 2023, has been extended to April 30, 2024, allowing more off-campus work opportunities.

Online study time will also count towards post-graduation work permits for those starting before September 1, 2024, as long as it constitutes less than 50% of the program of study.
