🚨 New Canadian PR Pathway for Workers Already in Canada
Canada has introduced a new Temporary Resident to Permanent Resident (TR-to-PR) initiative that could allow up to 33,000 temporary workers in Canada to obtain permanent residence during 2026–2027.
This initiative is part of the federal government’s immigration plan to prioritize people already living and working in Canada and transition them to permanent residence while supporting the labour market.
Who may benefit?
This pathway is expected to focus on workers who:
✔ Are already working in Canada with a valid temporary status
✔ Have stable employment and work experience in Canada
✔ Are contributing to the economy and paying taxes
✔ Work in in-demand sectors or communities with labour shortages
The policy specifically aims to support workers who have established strong roots in Canada and are helping meet labour market needs.
⚠️ Important: The government has not yet released the full eligibility criteria, and programs like this often have limited quotas and high demand.
