🇨🇦 Express Entry Update: Job Offer Points Make a Comeback, With a Twist

IRCC is reshaping Express Entry to place more value on Canadian work experience and job offers in high-wage occupations.

Before March 2025, a valid job offer could add 50 or 200 CRS points to a candidate’s profile. Those points were later scrapped.

Now, under the new system, extra points will go to eligible candidates with Canadian work experience or a qualifying job offer in a designated high-wage occupation.

What counts as a high-wage occupation?
IRCC compares each occupation’s median wage with the average median wage of Canada’s workforce, then places it in one of three tiers:

🔹 Tier 1: At least 2x the average median wage
🔹 Tier 2: 1.5x to under 2x
🔹 Tier 3: 1.3x to under 1.5x

Keep in mind, eligibility depends on your occupation’s NOC classification, not your individual salary. The tiers are based on wage data from the past three years.

🇨🇦 Canada Announces Its 2026–2028 Immigration Levels Plan!

IRCC has outlined its targets for permanent and temporary resident admissions over the next three years.

📌 Key Highlights:
🔹 Permanent resident admissions: 380,000 annually from 2026 to 2028.
🔹 Economic immigration: 239,800 admissions.
🔹 Family sponsorship: 84,000 admissions.
🔹 Temporary resident arrivals will decrease from 385,000 in 2026 to 370,000 in 2027 and 2028.
🔹 International student targets will decline to 150,000.
🔹 Canada aims to reduce temporary residents to below 5% of its population by the end of 2027.

➕ Additional pathways are planned for approximately 115,000 protected persons and up to 33,000 temporary workers.
