Canada Immigration Update: Temporary Ebola Measures Affect PR, TRV and eTA Holders
Canada has temporarily suspended certain immigration documents and paused final decisions on affected applications for foreign nationals currently living in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan.
According to reported Canada Gazette figures, more than 36,000 permanent residence applications may be affected by these temporary measures. Permanent resident visas, temporary resident visas, eTAs, and other travel documents issued to affected individuals may also be suspended during this period.
This does not mean every citizen of these countries is affected. The measure is based mainly on where the applicant is currently living or where they resided when they applied.
For many applicants and families, this update may create uncertainty, especially for those awaiting final PR decisions, holding valid PR visas, or preparing to travel to Canada.
At Althea Mitchell Barrister & Solicitor, we help individuals and families understand how immigration changes may affect their applications, status, travel plans, and available legal options.
If you or a loved one may be affected by these temporary measures, seek legal guidance before making travel or application decisions.
