Sarnia! We need your help.🚨
We’re Shack, a Sarnia startup looking to disrupt the real estate industry… This past summer, the people in power tried to shut us down.
We believe homeowners deserve choice. Selling privately should be a real option. Right now, it mostly isn’t. We’re on a mission to break the monopoly so homeowners aren’t forced to pay 5–6% of their home sale just to sell their house.
Home ownership has become so expensive, and many Canadians are struggling, some are now underwater on their mortgages. Imagine owing the bank more than your house is worth… but you’re forced to sell, and pay $30-$50K to realtors on top of the value you’ve already lost.
Our goal isn’t to list homes privately, but to sell them. One of our services connects listings to be promoted on MLS through our broker partners using something called MERE listings. This is compliant and allows the home seller to get exposure on MLS and Realtor .ca without having to pay real estate commissions.
Unfortunately, on multiple occasions our listings were taken down with little communication or warning from the local real estate board. Why? Because many of their members were not happy about what we’re doing. The Sarnia Journal caught wind of this and did a story. You can read it. (comments below).
We were proven right in the end. Our listings went back up.
And guess what happened? Our houses are selling…
IN SARNIA…PETROLIA…PLYMPTON- WYOMING…
Meet Peter & Rita, local residents who listed with Shack and had a showing in 2 days. That showing turned into a deal that saved them over $62,000.
Here’s why we need your help.
At the national level, this industry does not want us to succeed. If we do, we’ll save Canadians billions of the hard-earned dollars, and we’ll put pressure on them to innovate, offer better value, and lower commissions.
To stop that from happening, they will try everything they can to shut us down again… right here in Sarnia, before we can catch fire.
If you believe homeowners deserve a choice, make your voice heard.

We’re not against realtors. Just like many of you, we have good friends and family who sell real estate for a living.
But the industry is full of corruption, and many good agents know what we’re doing is right. We’re not anti-agent. We’re anti-monopoly.
We’re planning to make a big splash in the spring, with technology so disruptive it will challenge the status quo forever.
Canadians deserve this choice. Help us get there.
