This is a reminder that the Dunsford & Scott Law Firm will be closing, as Larry Dunsford and Susan Scott will be retiring. Our last day of work will be the 19th of December, 2025.

If we hold your original Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, and Personal Directives you will need to come in during work hours to pick up your documents.

We will be contacting all of our corporate clients by mail, email or telephone to set out your options for changing your Registered Office. If you have not heard from us, please contact us so that we can ensure the transfer of your corporation documents.

Life goes by in a flash! After 41 years in the business of Law in Rocky Mountain House it is time for Larry Dunsford and Susan Scott to retire.

Despite our efforts, we have not been successful in recruiting lawyers to come to Rocky Mountain House to take over our practice. We have therefore made the very difficult decision to wind it down. We intend to have the vast majority of our files wrapped up by the 31st of December, 2025, after having completed our work in progress.

As well, you may have noticed that our office building at 5135-48th Street has been undergoing a renovation. Dubert Rocuant and his team at RJ Mountain Wealth will be gradually moving in over the next several months. We will remain fully operational in our current office until December 31st, 2025.

We hope to make the transition for our clients as easy as possible.

If we are holding your original Wills or other testamentary documents, we will be asking you to pick up your documents and arrange for your own secure storage.

We will be contacting all our Corporate clients for whom we act as Registered Office. We will be working with you to make arrangements for your Registered Office to be changed.

It has been our privilege to provide professional services to this community over the years. We intend to continue to live here and will maintain our involvement in this community through our volunteer activities, as we have since 1984.

Our office has been serving this community for 38 years. We will miss our valued employees, Carrie Sidoryk and Sherrie Carpentier, and wish them the best on their retirements. We are excited about the new additions to our team, and continue to offer full service 24/7 law to our valued clients, and new clients we have not yet met. As other law firms leave Rocky Mtn. Hse, we continue to buck the trend and hope that our valued clientele will continue to “shop local”. No, contrary to rumours, we have no plans to leave, and welcome all new clients, who may be looking for a new look at their legal issues. There is a difference between taking time off and closing our doors, and having taken our summer holidays, we are back, and eager, to assist with all matters, especially real estate purchases and sales, Wills and Estates, and Corporate and business law.

Dunsford and Scott/ Rocky Mountain Law Offices wishes all of you a safe and happy Christmas and New Years. We also wish to use this opportunity to introduce you to our newest Associate Lawyer, Alex Peters. He was admitted to the Bar this month, and joined us immediately afterwards. As with all the lawyers here, Alex plans to offer services in all aspects of the practice, with an emphasis on real estate and Wills. Please come by and meet Alex in 2022. We are proud, as Rocky’s oldest established law firm, to be adding legal staff when others are moving away or reducing their numbers.

For those clients who are unable to attend in person, we continue to encourgage and offer consultations by telephone, as well as via videoconferencing. We have had quite a number of out of Province clients purchasing land here in beautiful Clearwater County, and the meetings via videoconference for the purposes of having the real estate conveyancing documentation has been going very smoothly. So far, 2021 has been a very busy year, and even with all that is going on in the world, we have a lot to be thankful for. Stay healthy.

An update on our Covid policy as we enter Fall:
The front door is unlocked. We still limit the number of persons seated in the Reception area, so our clientele can sit a safe distance apart. We choose, as a Staff, to wear masks during meetings, and encourage clients to do so as well. Masks are offered for your use if you did not bring one. We are having a busy time and hope that all of our clients, present and future, are also as busy and safe as can be.

Our office still has appropriate Covid protocols in practice. In addition, expect the front door to be locked prior to your scheduled appointment. We limit space in Reception to three people at a time.
