KNOWLEDGE SERIES:
I received a review letter for child care expenses.. WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?
First don’t panic these happen and they’re not very hard to deal with, this does not mean you’re getting audited.
This is usually due to missing information on your receipts from your child care provider.
To attempt to avoid this from happening please ensure that your child care receipts have the following information.
Receipts have to include all the following information:
• the child's first and last name
• the dates of the child care expenses
• the amount paid for the services
• the name of the child's parent
• the name, address, and social insurance number (SIN) of the person who provided the services (we do not need a SIN if an organization, such as a nursery, provided the services)
But please understand that even if you provide all the information it does not guarantee that they’re not going to review.
