Safety planning can be an important step for anyone experiencing abuse or preparing to leave an unsafe relationship. ๐
At the Womenโs Legal Clinic, we help clients create personalized safety plans as part of our trauma-informed legal support, advocacy, and navigation. A safety plan is a practical tool that can help someone stay safer before, during, or after leaving an abusive relationship.
Safety planning can include:
๐น recognizing danger signs
๐น identifying safe places to go
๐น listing emergency contacts
๐น gathering important documents
๐น packing essentials
๐น protecting your technology
๐น staying safer during incidents
๐น planning to leave
Our Legal Advocates can work with clients to create a plan tailored to their needs, choices, and circumstances. We use the PATHS SK CAP tool to support this process.
