🚨 SHE’S BACK IN THE TANK. 🚨

Apparently, once was not enough.

This Saturday at 3 PM, I will once again be climbing into the dunk tank for DUNK THE GM - because nothing says strong leadership quite like sitting nervously above a tank of cold water while cottage owners line up for their shot at you. 😂💦

The attached video is actual footage from last year’s betrayal…I mean, fundraiser.

And judging by the enthusiasm some of you showed, I have a sneaking suspicion you’ve been practicing your throwing arms all winter. 👀

🎯 Got a maintenance request that took too long?

🎯 Just generally feel like watching your GM plunge into a tank of water?

Sometimes the best moments aren’t the ones on the activity calendar.

They’re the ones in between.

A volleyball.
Bare feet in the sand.
The sun on your back.
And nowhere you need to be next.

As adults, we tend to measure a great vacation by how much we did.

Kids have a way of reminding us that maybe we’ve got that backwards.

Maybe a great summer is measured by how often you lost track of time. ☀️

No schedule. No screen. No rush.

Just a kid, a ball, and a whole afternoon ahead of him.

That’s the kind of summer we hope they remember. 💙

🏡 Would I buy a resort cottage right now?

Actually? Yes.

If cottage ownership was something you dreamed about before COVID prices went a little… feral 😳 - it might be time to take another look.

Because resort cottage ownership is a little different.

Maybe you don't want acres to maintain, grass to cut, a well and septic system to worry about, or every weekend becoming a list of chores.

Maybe you just want the cottage lifestyle. 🌲🌊

Morning coffee on the deck.
Days at the beach.
Afternoons on the lake.
Kids riding bikes to see their friends.
Neighbours who become friends.
And somewhere you can arrive, drop your bags and start enjoying.

And right now, buyers have something they didn't always have:

Time.

Time to tour. Compare. Ask questions. Understand the fees. Look at different cottages and locations - without feeling like you're competing on a game show. 😂

Because here's something I tell people all the time:

Don't fall in love with the cottage first. Fall in love with the resort.

You can paint walls. Change furniture. Update flooring.

You can't change the lake, the location, the amenities or the community.

The cottage is actually the last piece of the puzzle.

So would I buy right now?

If it fit my budget, I loved the resort and found the right cottage?

Absolutely.

And you don't have to be ready to buy to come take a look.

Come walk the resort. Ask the awkward money questions. See what ownership actually looks like.

Worst case? You spend a little time at the lake. 🌊😉

Best case?

“Someday we'll get a cottage” might just become “Who's coming up this weekend?” ❤️

Turns out, you CAN learn new tricks… especially when there’s music, a little vacation courage, and someone willing to yell, “1-2-3… 5-6-7!” 💃🕺😂

We recently held a Salsa Dancing Workshop at the resort, and it was such a great reminder that vacations aren’t only about kicking back and doing nothing.

Sometimes they’re about doing something you’ve never done before.

Learning a few new steps.
Laughing when your feet don’t cooperate.
Dancing with someone you love.
And discovering that maybe, just maybe, you’ve got a little more rhythm than you thought. 😉

There’s no age limit on trying something new, making a fool of yourself, laughing until your cheeks hurt, or adding another story to the collection.

Because the best vacation souvenirs aren’t always things you bring home.

Sometimes… they’re the things you learned while you were here. ❤️

And judging by this video, I think we may have a few new salsa dancers in our midst. 🌶️💃

“Isn’t this supposed to be a ‘for sale’ page?” 🏡

I get asked that every once in a while.

And technically… yes. Yes, it is.

But here’s the thing:

The cottage is the final destination - it’s not where the journey starts.

Before I can sell you a cottage, I have to sell you on something much bigger.

I want you to picture your mornings by the lake.
The kids running off to find their friends.
An afternoon at the beach that somehow turns into an evening with neighbours.
The events, the laughs, the golf cart rides, the sunsets, the ice cream cones and all those little moments you didn’t know you were looking for.

Because first, you have to fall in love with the resort. ❤️

You have to be able to see yourself here.

Then we can talk about whether you want two bedrooms or three, waterview or waterfront, big deck or little deck.

The cottage is important, of course.

But you’re not really buying four walls and a roof.

You’re choosing where you want to spend your summers. You’re choosing your community. You’re choosing the backdrop for a whole lot of memories that haven’t happened yet.

And then we find the cottage that fits into that picture. 🏡

Speaking of cottages… these two just happen to be available. 😉

And, wouldn't you know it, I just happen to have some time this weekend to show you around. 😏

Coincidence? Maybe.

Maybe it really is that simple.

Pay attention.
To the laughter. The concentration. The sandy hands. The very serious discussions about whether that tower needs another bucket of sand. 😂

Be astonished.
By what happens when people put down their phones, get their hands dirty and decide that, for a little while, building the greatest sandcastle McCreary’s Beach has ever seen is the most important thing in the world.

Tell about it.
Well… that’s what I’m doing right now. 💙

Because these are the moments.

Not necessarily the big, perfectly planned, once-in-a-lifetime ones.

The ordinary ones that somehow become extraordinary when we actually stop long enough to notice them.

A sunny day.
A pile of sand.
A little friendly competition.
A whole lot of laughter.

Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.

Life is happening right here. 🌊☀️🏖️

Somewhere along the way, adults forgot how to do this. 🍦

Sit on a bench.
Eat an ice cream cone.
Watch the lake.
Do absolutely nothing productive for a few minutes.

When we were kids, that was enough to make it a pretty great day.

Maybe part of summer is about giving yourself permission to enjoy the simple stuff without feeling like you should be doing something else.

As adults, we’re always thinking about what needs to be done next. The dishes waiting back at the cottage. What’s for dinner. Where the kids are. What time everyone needs to be somewhere.

But maybe summer isn’t supposed to be another thing we have to accomplish.

Maybe it’s supposed to remind us how to slow down.

So grab the ice cream cone. Find a bench. Let it melt a little faster than you can eat it. Watch the boats go by. Wave at someone walking past. Stay longer than you planned.

Give yourself permission to just be for a little while.

Because when October comes and the cottages are closed up for another season, it probably won’t be the big things you miss most.

It’ll be these moments. ❤️

The lake. The sunshine. The people passing by.

And a really good ice cream cone on a summer afternoon. 🍦☀️

It really is the little things.
