📋 Executor or administrator: what’s the difference?

When someone passes away, their estate needs someone to handle things like gathering assets, paying debts and distributing what remains to the beneficiaries.

But the person responsible may be called an executor or an administrator, depending on whether there is a will.

👉 An executor is named in a will and carries out the deceased person’s wishes.

👉 An administrator is appointed by the court when someone dies without a will and administers the estate according to BC’s intestacy laws.
