Meet Victoria!

Victoria brings over 20 years of experience as a dedicated family law clerk to the Lighthouse Family Law team. Over Victoria’s career, she has developed a wealth of knowledge that she uses to support the legal team at Lighthouse Family Law and the firm’s clients. Victoria is passionate about assisting clients through difficult and challenging times, by drawing on her extensive experience and the resources available to her. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and responsiveness ensure that clients feel informed and supported every step of the way.

Victoria thrives in the collaborative environment at Lighthouse Family Law and contributes positively to the firm’s team culture. She works closely with the lawyers and fellow clerks to advance the interests of clients, and she is committed to ensuring that every matter proceeds smoothly from start to finish.

Outside the office, Victoria enjoys spending time with family and friends. She maintains an active lifestyle and pursues creative hobbies, including crafting and stained-glass projects.

Meet Sophie!

Sophie Dhami is a family lawyer at Lighthouse Family Law. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, where she studied Political Science and Sociology, before earning her law degree from the University of Leicester.

Sophie articled in criminal law and now focuses her practice exclusively on family law, bringing a strong understanding of how criminal and family issues often overlap. She has experience working with individuals and families from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds and appreciates the unique challenges that can arise in each situation. Sophie is also sensitive to the ways in which different cultural backgrounds can shape expectations around separation and child-related issues, including parenting time and decision-making, and she approaches these complex matters with nuance, empathy, and respect.

Sophie has conducted several trials and has been successful in securing favourable results for her clients. She is known for her calm, compassionate approach, her ability to explain complex legal issues in clear, practical terms, and her commitment to helping clients feel supported during difficult transitions.

Outside of her practice, Sophie enjoys hot yoga, travelling the world, and trying new restaurants.

Meet Trinity!

Trinity earned her Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Political Science from Wilfrid Laurier University and her Bachelor of Laws with Honours First Class from the University of Sussex before joining Lighthouse. Her longstanding interest in helping families navigate the legal system deepened during her time as a student advisor and volunteer with Sussex’s Family Law Clinic, where she directly assisted individuals in family law matters.

Trinity’s desire to support families through challenging times stems from her upbringing in the small town of Bancroft, Ontario. Raised in a close-knit community, she developed a strong sense of empathy and personal connection to others. Her experiences working in local institutions during her studies further enhanced her understanding of the emotional and social complexities families face in times of conflict. Trinity is keenly aware of how family disputes can ripple out to affect individuals and communities, and she is committed to using her skills to support those in need, knowing the transformative potential of family law professionals.

Trinity’s time living and studying abroad not only provided her with a solid foundation in both theoretical and practical legal skills, but also broadened her worldview as a professional. This experience has sharpened her ability to approach challenging situations with adaptability and sensitivity- key traits in the family law field. Trinity is excited to continue developing her advocacy skills while working alongside the experienced team at Lighthouse to deliver tailored, high quality legal services. Trinity completed her Articles at Lighthouse and the team is excited to welcome her back as an associate!

Outside of the office, Trinity enjoys listening to live music, spending time on the water, taking fitness classes, and traveling.

Meet Avneet!

Avneet Virk is a family law lawyer at Lighthouse Family Law, focused on protecting her clients’ interests while guiding families through difficult transitions. Avneet’s passion for family law stems from her desire to help people navigate challenging times and find fair, practical solutions that allow them to move forward with clarity.

Avneet specializes in domestic contracts, including cohabitation, marriage, and separation agreements, and is skilled in negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. When court involvement is necessary, she is a strong advocate with experience across all levels of court in Ontario.

Since her call to the Ontario Bar in 2017, Avneet has exclusively practiced family law. Before joining Lighthouse Family Law, Avneet practiced at well-regarded law firms in the Greater Toronto Area and completed her articles at the Family Responsibility Office, where she gained expertise in family support enforcement.

Avneet holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Ottawa, where she was involved in student leadership and served as an executive member of both the Common Law Student Society and the South Asian Law Student Association. She also interned with the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal and the Sears Canada Legal Department.

Avneet is fluent in Punjabi and conversational in Hindi.

Outside of work, Avneet enjoys exploring the world with her husband, spending time with her large extended family, and relaxing in the countryside.
