🇨🇦 Americans with Canadian ancestry may now have a new pathway to Canadian citizenship.

Recent changes to Canada’s citizenship by descent rules mean that many individuals with a Canadian parent, grandparent, or even earlier generations may now be eligible to claim Canadian citizenship and obtain a Canadian passport.

One of the most important parts of the process is proving your family connection through the correct historical documents, including:

📄 Canadian birth certificates
📄 Marriage certificates
📄 Citizenship records
📄 Historical or archive documents

Because records are managed by individual provinces across Canada, applicants often need to request documents from multiple provincial offices and archives. In some cases, older records may only be available through historical archives.

With growing demand, processing times for document requests are increasing across many provinces.

At Method Immigration, we help individuals assess eligibility for citizenship by descent and guide them through the documentation process required for a Canadian citizenship certificate application. ✨

Important Update for Professionals & Employers!

IRCC has released clearer guidelines for GATS LMIA-exempt work permits under the WTO trade agreement. This short-term pathway lets qualified foreign professionals work in Canada for up to 90 days without an LMIA. Key highlights from the update: Stronger documentation requirements (education, experience, contracts, reference letters & more)
Emphasis on genuine employer & business activity (no shell companies)
Clearer occupational categories (engineers, architects, IT specialists, etc.)
Staffing agencies & personnel placement contracts are explicitly excluded

Whether you're a professional delivering specialized services or an employer bringing in talent, these changes bring more transparency to the process. Read the full article here: https://method-immigration.com/canada-clarifies-gats-lmia-exempt-work-permit-rules/
