For workers in B.C., the immigration strategy has changed.

Simply having a job in B.C. is no longer enough to assume that a BC PNP invitation will follow.

Your occupation, certification, wage, education, work experience, location and registration score all matter.

Your immigration strategy should begin before the invitation — not after it.

What should you do next?

If you are working in B.C. and considering the BC PNP, don't wait for the next draw to find out whether your profile is competitive.

Review your profile now.

Ask yourself:

✔️ Is my occupation currently a priority?
✔️ Is my BC PNP score accurate?
✔️ Am I meeting all occupation-specific requirements?
✔️ What can I realistically improve before the next invitation?

Want to understand where you stand?

Book an immigration consultation for a personalized assessment of your BC PNP options.

As of July 28, 2026, all eligible adult Canadians in Canada can now renew their passports online.

This expansion removes previous limits on the number of applicants who could access the online renewal system and provides a more convenient option for eligible Canadians.

Eligible adults can complete their passport renewal entirely online, including:

* Submitting the application
* Uploading a digital passport photo taken by a commercial photographer
* Paying the application fee electronically

Online renewals follow the same 20-business-day processing standard as simplified renewals submitted by mail or at most Service Canada Centres.

Applicants receive real-time status updates, making it easier to track their application throughout the process.

Those who require a passport urgently must still apply in person to access 10-business-day, express, or urgent processing services.

Canadians applying from outside Canada will continue to apply through a Canadian government office abroad or by mail.

The expansion of online passport renewal is part of the Government of Canada's broader effort to modernize public services by making them more accessible, efficient, and user-friendly. It is expected to reduce in-person demand at Service Canada locations while improving access for Canadians living in rural or remote communities and for individuals with mobility challenges.

Before starting an online application, applicants should carefully review the eligibility criteria, as the requirements differ slightly from traditional renewal applications.

Early Childhood Educators remain a priority occupation in British Columbia but eligibility requires more than having a childcare job.

A successful immigration strategy depends on understanding how your qualifications, ECE certification, employment situation, work authorization, and immigration history align with current BC PNP requirements.

A professional assessment can help you make informed decisions and avoid investing in options that may not align with your circumstances.

The Government of Canada has announced that it is pausing new applications for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP).

Here's what this means:

No new Interest to Sponsor forms will be accepted until further notice.
No new invitations to apply will be issued.
IRCC will continue processing applications already in the system and plans to welcome up to 15,000 parents and grandparents as permanent residents in 2026.

If you were planning to reunite with your parents or grandparents, the Super Visa is still available. It allows eligible parents and grandparents to visit Canada for up to 5 years at a time, with multiple entries for up to 10 years.

For assistance with Super Visa, feel free to reach out.

Labour shortages continue to affect many Canadian businesses.

Where no Canadian citizen or permanent resident is available, employers may consider hiring foreign workers through either LMIA-based work permit applications or LMIA-exempt pathways, depending on the position and eligibility criteria.

Each option requires careful assessment to ensure compliance and the right fit for your hiring needs.
