Please be advised that a service for Michael will take place at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church (81 Maple Street, New Liskeard) at 11am on Friday October 6th, 2023 at 11am.

Following the service, the funeral procession will head to the cemetery for the burial of Michael's ashes. A reception will follow at TAP THAT Kitchen and Bar on Armstrong Street in New Liskeard.

Michael was a significant supporter of local arts and culture throughout his life. In his final strides, access to care and support in the North-East Ontario area was crucial. In Memoriam – Michael J. Doupe – Message to clients of Doupe Law

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our esteemed colleague and founder, Michael Doupe on Sunday, September 24th, 2023. Mike was a dedicated lawyer who left an indelible mark on his firm and the legal community at large. His legal journey was one of controversy and conviction, a path that shaped him into a mentor, a boss, and an advocate who always fought fiercely for his clients' rights.

Mike's legacy is one that transcends mere professional success; he was a force to be reckoned with, leaving no one indifferent to his spirited personality, bold perspectives, and outspoken ways. While his methods often sparked debate, there was no doubt that his passion and his commitment to his clients were unwavering. His presence in the legal arena challenged norms and paved the way for new avenues of thought.

As a mentor and boss, Mike's impact was immeasurable. He believed in nurturing legal talent, guiding aspiring lawyers and staff on their journeys, and fostering an environment of growth. Many owe their success to his guidance, his tough love, and his relentless pursuit of excellence. His dedication to his profession and his people served as a beacon of inspiration, pushing all of us to excel in our work.

In the wake of this loss, we extend our deepest condolences to Mike's four children – Jacob, Micah, Abraham and Michael – his grandson Solomon, siblings, friends, and family. As we mourn together, we also celebrate a life lived with purpose and determination, leaving behind a legacy that will live on.

We wish to advise clients of Doupe Law Professional Corporation that the practice will be closing, effective October 3rd, 2023. In honoring Mike's memory, the firm he founded will carry forward under a new name – DBC Law Professional Corporation – under the ownership of Mike’s associate, Danielle Bélanger-Corbin. Her offices will remain at 7 Armstrong Street in New Liskeard and the firm’s coordinates will remain the same. In addition, the current staff from Doupe Law will be joining her practice, allowing for continuity with clients’ legal matters, should they decide to transfer over to her. DBC Law Professional Corporation – operating as DBC Legal – will be offering a wide range of legal services. Further information on her legal firm can be found on her website at dbclegal.ca. We ask that clients of Doupe Law contact us at 705.647.9411 or visit our offices in person, to advise us as soon as possible to how they would like to proceed and if required, to obtain copies of their open or closed files, original wills or power of attorney documents, corporate property and records, other valuable property or documents, and funds held in trust.

As we remember and reflect upon Mike's life and accomplishments, let us also remember the lessons he taught us: to never shy away from controversy, to fight relentlessly for our clients, and to always speak from the heart, even at the risk of ruffling some feathers.

Farewell, Mike. Your spirit will forever guide us.
