Immigration experts call this the "hidden roadmap" to Canada. The program you select could mean the difference between months versus years of waiting!

On February 27, 2025, Immigration Canada announced the 2025 Express Entry categories.

For 2025, the focus of the federal economic class draws will be to invite candidates with experience working in Canada under the Canadian Experience Class to apply for permanent residence.

Moreover, to meet Francophone immigration targets and to meet the acute needs in health, trades and education, Immigration Canada will conduct category-based invitation rounds in the following categories:

1. Strong French language skills; or

2. Work experience in the following fields:

a) Health care and social services, such as family physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, psychologists and chiropractors.

b) Trades, such as carpenters, plumbers and contractors.

c) Education, such as teachers, child care educators and instructors of persons with disabilities.

Immigration is essential to supporting Canada’s economic growth. As labour requirements in key sectors continue to evolve, it’s important that Canada’s immigration system is nimble and responsive to our country’s needs.

As of December 23 at 11:59 pm ET, work & study permits will not be provided to flagpolers at ports of entry, freeing up resources for CAN & US officers to focus on securing our shared border.

Flagpoling is when foreign nationals who hold temporary resident status in Canada, leave Canada and, after a visit to the United States or St. Pierre and Miquelon, re-enter to access immigration services at the border.
