A significant update for foreign workers in Canada waiting for their **LMIA** 👇

📌 Previously, eligible applicants had up to **60 days** to provide a positive LMIA after submitting their Work Permit application.

🔔 **As of August 21, 2026, this period has been extended to 90 days.**

This change can provide eligible foreign workers with additional time while waiting for their LMIA decision, especially given the current LMIA processing timelines.

⚠️ Please note that **this extension does not automatically apply to everyone**. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements, including having a Work Permit that is approaching expiry and an LMIA application that has been submitted by the employer but has not yet received a decision.

Are you preparing to travel, visit family, or transit through Canada by air? Don't forget to check your entry documents before boarding your flight!
Per guidelines highlighted by IRCC, depending on your citizenship and travel purpose, you may require an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) or a Visitor Visa to fly to or transit through Canada. An eTA is electronically linked to your passport and applies to citizens of eligible visa-exempt countries traveling by air.
