International students: temporary changes to the post-graduation work permit (PGWP) program put in place earlier in the pandemic are being extended and expanded.

Studies completed outside Canada up to December 31, 2021, will count towards a future PGWP and allow international students to complete their entire program online from abroad while still being eligible for a PGWP.

These temporary changes apply to all international students who are enrolled in a PGWP-eligible program, and meet all other PGWP criteria.

Learn more about the measures announced today by Minister Mendicino to ensure that international students won’t miss out on opportunities after they graduate due to the pandemic: https://canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/2021/02/government-of-canada-announces-further-measures-to-support-international-students.html

Extended family members of Canadian citizens and Canadian permanent residents can request a written authorization to travel to Canada. In response to comments from applicants, the application for authorization and statutory declaration form has now been updated. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Note that the over 300 applicants who have already submitted their forms will not need to re-submit as long as it has been signed by the Canadian authorized official.

Extended family members should not make travel plans until they meet all requirements and get all necessary authorizations. Reminder that all travellers must have a plan to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Canada.

For more information on the process and requirements, including the updated application for authorization and statutory declaration form, visit: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/visitors/immediate-family.html
