Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino announced a one-year extension to the federal government’s immigration agreement with Newfoundland and Labrador.
This extension of the existing Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Immigration Agreement allows us time to negotiate a new agreement that will accelerate our work with federal partners to achieve this province’s ambitious goal for immigration by welcoming 5,100 newcomers annually in 2026.

Canada extending India flight restrictions until September .

Transport Canada has confirmed that direct flights between Canada and India will remain on hold until September 21.

All direct commercial and private passenger flights are suspended. Only cargo operations, medical transfers, or military flights are allowed to go directly between the two countries.

Gains were concentrated in full-time work, especially in the private sector in service industries. Unemployment fell to 7.5 percent, matching the rate in March.

Tech workers have several options for immigrating to Canada.

Foreign nationals need a work permit to legally work in Canada. Some of these work permits are specifically tailored to tech workers. Although, tech workers can skip straight to applying for permanent residency without ever setting foot in Canada.
Studies have shown that immigrants with Canadian work experience tend to have better labor market outcomes. They tend to make more money and are more likely to be employed in the first year after landing.

Canada’s new essential worker stream reaches intake cap.

Immigration Canada is no longer accepting applications for essential workers who do not work in healthcare.
Canada’s new immigration stream for English-speaking essential workers in non-healthcare-related positions has reached its limit of 30,000.
The quota was met on July 16, more than two months after the program originally launched. It is the second of the six temporary residence to permanent residence (TR to PR) pathways to fill up before the programs close on November 5. The first was the international graduates stream, which was open for 25 hours.

Six Canadian cities have more than 1 million residents.

These Canadian cities are Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Ottawa. According to Statistics Canada, Toronto tops the list, followed by Montreal and Vancouver. Canada continues to be among the top countries with the lowest population density currently estimated at 3.9 people per square kilometre. The country has a total population of more than 37 million as of 2019.

Saskatchewan PNP draw invites 280 candidates

The new Saskatchewan draw targeted candidates with work experience in one of 63 occupations.

The invitations went to candidates who may be eligible for a nomination from the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), specifically from the International Skilled Worker category. Of those invited, 84 may be eligible for the SINP’s Express Entry subcategory, and 196 through the Occupations In-Demand sub-category.

Ontario releases new instructions for submitting complete PNP applications.

The new instructions are for Express Entry candidates as well as those who submitted profiles to Ontario's Expression of Interest system.

Ontario has offered some more specific instructions to future immigrants and their representatives who are applying for its provincial immigration program.

Ontario immigration applicants need to send complete applications to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). Missing elements can result in applications being returned. The province says it decreases processing times to only accept complete applications for its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

New instructions for submitting complete applications pertain to Ontario Express Entry and Expression of Interest candidates.
