Together, we can make a difference. 💜
STORY TIME
A few years ago, I had read a post from a Paralegal who mentioned that he received a lower sentence for his client charged with domestic assault. In that post, there were comments such as: “ Congratulations!!_______ “ “ Great Job ____ “ etc.
I saw that post and made the post below:
“ While I understand that one may be happy to get a reduced charge for their client and that’s a win for them, however what was posted is offensive to many victims ( both male and female) where their former intimate partners` charges were reduced ( for various reasons ) as well as the victims that didn’t make it to court, either because they were too scared to tell the police ( for various reasons ) or they died at the hands of their intimate partner. It’s so important to be mindful of others whom your post may traumatize/ re-traumatize. “
After my post was made, I saw a responding post that (he) can post what he wants on his page.
While I appreciate that everyone can post on their social media what they like, it’s important to be mindful and display empathy for others.
There is for violence against women - all women across the province have the right to live safely and free from intimidation/ re-traumatization.
🧡 On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we must all come together and act now to end gender-based violence.
Today is an important opportunity to raise awareness, spark conversations, and inspire action. Violence against women is not a private matter – it is a community issue, a legal issue, and a human rights issue.
Each year, thousands of women in Ontario experience violence in a variety of forms. Many of these women will encounter additional challenges when trying to protect themselves and their children through the family law system.
Today, and every day, we encourage all Canadians to speak up about gender-based violence, and we renew our commitment to ending violence against women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ individuals.

In Canada, some women—such as Indigenous, racialized, low-income women, and women with disabilities—are disproportionately impacted by intersecting factors that increase their risk.
Let’s unite to build a safe, equitable future for all.
