Big update from the Bank of Canada today 🇨🇦
and yes, this directly affects your money.

The rate is holding at 2.25%.

But this isn’t relief…
it’s a pause.

Here’s what’s really happening:

The economy is slowing.
Unemployment has risen to 6.7%.
Housing activity is still soft.

At the same time…
Inflation has cooled to around 1.8% (good news)
but rising global energy prices could push it back up again.

So the Bank is stuck in wait-and-see mode.

What this means for you:
👉 Variable-rate borrowers:
You’re getting stability for now — but no cuts yet.

👉 Buyers:
This could be your window before confidence (and competition) returns.

👉 Sellers:
Expect more cautious buyers until there’s clearer direction.

👉 Mortgages overall:
Lenders are watching closely — uncertainty = tighter decisions.

Bottom line:
We’re in a transition market.
Not crashing. Not booming. Just… waiting.

And timing matters more than ever.
