Today is a day of sorrow.
Earlier today, September 8, 2022, her Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II of Windsor, our Sovereign, including for all of my life and my father's life, has passed away in the 70th year of reign.
She saw our Commonwealth of nations through the growing pains of the fastest changing period in human history thus far, under the shadow of a nuclear standoff throughout the Cold War. She was steadfast in her duties and will, I think, remain an icon of the best we can hope for from a reigning monarch.
Change of this nature with a beloved sovereign is rarely enjoyed, especially during these somewhat uncertain times amid war and economic upheaval. But we remember what she stood for and we carry on with a steadfast determination to live up to our duties, as she did.
The Queen is dead.
Long live the King.
