2021 Virtual Bubbles and Baubles was a great success, raising over $16,000 for Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC). Thanks to all who joined in the fun and sparkle and made it our second highest amount raised!!! 🥂💎

Join me in celebrating Elana and all of the honourees at the virtual Women of Excellence Gala on May 19th! 🥂 All proceeds from this event support the YMCA Strong Kids campaign, ensuring everyone has access to YMCA programs and services regardless of their ability to pay.

For those of you who know me well, you will know how proud I am to be married to Elana. I am very happy that the Y has chosen to honour Elana as a 2021 Woman of Excellence. She is awarded this distinction in the field of Health, Science & Technology, and that is certainly appropriate. She and a handful of other women, with the support of many consumers, managed to get midwifery legislated, funded and recognized as a profession over 25 years ago. Before legislated midwifery become a reality, it was only available to those few who knew about the option and could afford it. Elana believed that all women should have access to woman-centred maternity care, regardless of socio-economic status. Now midwives provide care to a large number of women and babies in Ontario, as part of the publicly funded health care system.

It is an honour and privilege to get to come along for the ride in Elana's great adventure. I have no idea what she will turn to next, but I have no doubt she will continue to make our world a better place.
