The Okanagan innovation community showed up in a big way at this year's Okanagan Angel Summit.

In a historic first for the Summit, three companies secured investment in a single evening: Shuriii, Bullfinch, and Drawbridge. Together, they received a record-breaking $407,000 in funding.

The room was packed, the energy was electric, and the networking opportunities were endless. It was inspiring to see investors, entrepreneurs, and community leaders come together to support innovation and business growth in the Okanagan.

Congratulations to all the companies who pitched, and especially to the successful recipients. The future of tech and entrepreneurship in our region is bright!

Great conversations, fresh perspectives, and plenty of laughs.

We were pleased to welcome our friends from MNP to the office for an afternoon of networking and reconnecting. While technology has made it easier than ever to communicate, there is still tremendous value in sitting down face-to-face, sharing ideas, and strengthening relationships.

The discussions ranged from business and community to industry trends and opportunities, reminding us that meaningful connections remain at the heart of professional growth and collaboration.

Most business disputes start with a handshake deal or a contract nobody pushed back on. By the time you're calling a lawyer, being right isn't the issue. Proving it is, and that's where it gets expensive.

Live in Canada, hold a U.S. passport? The IRS still wants to hear from you.

The U.S. taxes its citizens on citizenship, not residency, so dual citizens often end up filing in two countries. The Canada–U.S. tax treaty helps, but it doesn't cover everything, and for some dual citizens, the dual-filing reality is what eventually leads them to consider renouncing U.S. citizenship altogether.

It's one of several cross-border issues Canadians run into, alongside admissibility, entry waivers, and work permits.
