The distorting lens of social media would have you believe that the rate of African Americans dying today at the hands of police is higher than ever before. There's just one problem - it simply isn't true. In fact, far from it. The Centre for Disease Control (CDC) confirms that 50 years ago, African Americans under the age of 25 were five times more likely to die from a police bullet than they are today.

America isn't falling apart. The reality is, it's never been safer to be black in America. But it’s still far more dangerous than being white.
