So I'm on this video saying I'm doing more shopping online, which is true. BUT I am a huge believer in shopping local, and what didn't get said is that this pandemic has shown us exactly how important it is to keep our dollars local and what happens when those dollars stop being spent locally. These are dollars that will continue to flow in our community - to other businesses, to their employees, and to local charities. Kate and have been loving both shopping local (we were at frock & fellow, Lakehouse Home Store, Mosaic Books, and Olive & Elle just this past weekend) AND ordering in from locally owned restaurants (Momo Sushi, RauDZ Regional Table, Parlour, Subcity Donair, Mabui Sushi Izakaya to name a few).

There are some things that are tough to find local, but if at all possible, I urge everyone to try to keep their dollars local and support local businesses!

Shop local. It's a commonly heard slogan these days, and for some local stores, the message could make all the difference when it comes to survivi.

My post this week goes out to Carla and Brenda with Book It Talent Agency, a talent making big moves to connect actors to the many feature films and TV shows being filmed around town. They're both awesome to deal with and have tons of expertise in the industry. If you or anyone you know want to try out being in a movie, get in touch with them!

For this post, I want to highlight a great friend and inspiring business person, Corrie Omand and her group benefits company, Navy & Sage Group Benefits. Not only does Corrie work tirelessly in the community - constantly donating time and money to the Kelowna Jaycees - JCI Kelowna, helping out at our farm for the JCI Kelowna Farm Project, and tons more - her and her partner Terri Eriksen have built a booming group benefits business over a few short years. I worked for a company who used Navy and Sage and was blown away at the level of service to the employees AND the management.

Happy Corrie Omand-Brown!

Corrie’s clients consider her to be a trusted and valued partner. She understands that success and meaningful advice only comes by fully understanding a client’s business and their needs. Through a strong customer-first focus, Corrie assists her clients in taking care of their employees through ...

For my second post, I want to highlight a great new development company I've been working with who are set to launch in Kelowna. After decades of building great homes in Medicine Hat and the surrounding area, they are moving their operation to Kelowna and will be starting with some ambitious infill projects. Look for their name around town in the coming months!

Can't wait to welcome you and your team to town for good, Chris Nickel! Dime Developments Inc

I'm starting a business, so I need to incorporate, right? Wrong! Corporations are very useful for many reasons, but they aren't required for operating a business. In this video I discuss, with the help of my little fluffy buddy, some major reasons for incorporating, including: (1) Limitation of liability, (2) tax benefits, and (3) raising money through investment.

Please like, subscribe, and comment if you have any questions! Any questions I receive may turn into a later episode of Legal Grounds!
