National Indigenous History Month is a reminder to listen, learn, and recognize the stories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples that have shaped the communities we call home.
It is also a time to acknowledge difficult truths. The impacts of colonization, residential schools, and systemic barriers are not simply part of history, they continue to affect Indigenous individuals, families, and communities today.
We believe that respect begins with understanding. To the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples who continue to share their knowledge, traditions, resilience, and leadership, we know that reconciliation is not achieved through words alone, but through a commitment to learning, listening, building relationships, and taking action where we can.
This month, we encourage everyone to take time to learn from Indigenous voices, support Indigenous communities, and reflect on how each of us can contribute to a future built on respect, understanding, and truth.
