I have been privileged to present colleagues from Nigeria to the Alberta bar, but this bar call ceremony was extra special to me because it was a beautiful show of Nigerian/immigrant excellence in Alberta: I, the principal, am originally from Nigeria; the presiding Judge, Olugbenga Shoyele is also originally from Nigeria, and the newest Alberta lawyer, Lynda Chinweokwu, is also originally from Nigeria.
If you know a little bit of what the legal profession in Alberta looks like from a diversity perspective, you will understand why this moment was nothing short of monumental.
